  • How many people can join a tour?
Most of our tours have groups of 15 to 20 students. During medical rotations the group is split in groups of 3 depending on the medical ward assigned that day.
  • What clothing should I pack for one of your adventures?
We always recommend packing as light as possible however the specific requirements for your tour will vary widely depending on where in Ecuador you will be traveling. You will be in the highlands one morning and in the jungle in the afternoon. For this reason, always carry a jacket with you and be ready to be really warm in the morning and cold at night.

To travel independently you must be at least 18 years of age. There are no upper age limits for our tours. Travelers with pre-existing medical conditions are required to complete a medical questionnaire.
  • Are airport transfers included?
Yes, your pickup is included on your transportation fee. You need to send us your time of arrival to have one of our team members at the airport for you.
  • What type of ground transportation is used on your tours?
HLD has its own buses and transportation. We will always be traveling as a group.
  • Can I book extra nights of hotel accommodation before or after my tour?
Yes, in most cases we can arrange additional accommodation at our starting or ending hotels. HLD has its own hotels in Quito and Banos in which you will have always a preferential rate.

Requirements for travel visas vary widely depending on your nationality. North Americans can travel to Ecuador without any restrictions or visas. If you have a different nationality, please make sure to check with your embassy prior your trip.
  • Do your tours include international airfare?
If you would like to include your ticket, you have the option to do it with us. Usually, the ticket from North America to Ecuador is around $700 to $1,000 US depending on the city of departure. Please let us know is you would want to include your airline ticket. Flight to Galapagos is included in the price of the tour.
  • What vaccinations are recommended for this adventure?
The only one qualified to provide you with this advice is your family physician or a specialist from a Travel Health clinic. However, it is mandatory to have your three Covid vaccinations and Hepatitis A and B for your medical rotations.
